GUEST ARTIST

Jerome Sabourin

Bio

Jérôme Sabourin is a multidisciplinary artist. He studied fine arts at Concordia University.

He is one of the most important directors of photography in the film and television industry. A profession he has been practicing for over twenty-five years. His visual signature can be seen in significant works. We can think of
Minuit le soir, Les Lavigueur, Les pays d'en haut, King Dave, Sam, C'est le cœur qui meurt en dernier, etc.

Inevitably, this profession has allowed him to understand and deal with the verticality of bodies, forms in space and movement.
His atypical background and his singular vision are transposed in the characters he draws. They inhabit an imaginary place and live in the immediacy and spontaneous gesture of the Indian ink, which does not allow retouching or reworking.

This exhibition suggests in a few drawings the works of a production both figurative and intimate. They highlight frank strokes!

He is currently directing his first feature-length documentary film
Au boute du rien pantoute, a current and playful portrait of the actor Marcel Sabourin, his father!

This film will be released in the fall of 2023.
